CEREALS 2009

Velcourt’s demonstration in 2009 had a central theme of “Managing Risk”.  The UK agricultural industry then operated in a time of unprecedented volatility and business profitability was centred round removing risk from the major decisions taken by a farming business.  Volatility in commodity prices, both input and output, combined with fluctuations in the value of sterling meant that the modern agricultural manager needed to be more in tune with these macro influences.  The demonstration looked at the key influences on profitability and provided useful discussion points which stimulated thought.
