New Technologies
Velcourt R & D has worked on a large number of research projects investigating the application of new technologies in the industry. These have been funded by a range of organisations including Defra, EC and agrochemical companies. Some examples are given below.
  1. Biofortification of wheat with selenium through agronomy and genotype selection to increase human dietary intake (LINK Project SA322)

  2. Management Options to Reduce Drift Or Run-off (MORDOR). (LINK project LK0949)

  3. Development and evaluation of wheat germplasm with a low–Phytate content to help control of diffuse phosphate pollution from pig and poultry production units (LINK project 0973)

  4. The Development & Utilisation of Aerobically Digested Fish Waste in Arable Crop Production

Crop Protection

  1. Towards a sustainable whole-farm approach to the control of ergot. (LINK project LK0962)

  2. Understanding evolution and selection of azole resistance mechanisms in UK populations of Mycosphaerella graminicola’ (LINK project LK0976)

Environmental

  1. An evaluation of the agronomic benefit of applying aerobically-digested fish waste (ADF) to wheat crops in place of fertilizers derived from ammonium nitrate compounds/ urea. Funded by Marine Fisheries Agency, a department within DEFRA.

  2. Waste and Resources Action Plan (WRAP) Project ORG0033-017

  3. Using recycled gypsum to improve potato growing conditions
