Allaster Dallas

Allaster studied at Seale Hayne (University of Plymouth) from 1993 – 1997, and graduated with a BSc (Honours) Degree in Agriculture 2:1. His dissertation was based on Cattle behaviour in dairy herds in particular social interaction on the college farm.

Allaster worked as a herdsman from 1997 until 2001 at Yeo Valley then Owen Yeatman until 2002.

Allaster joined Evershot Farms (Velcourt) in 2002 as Asstant Farm Manager and went through the velcourt training scheme. In 2006 Allaster became the Farm Manager.

He now runs 1000 dairy cattle, 2500 breeding ewes and a 750 KW biogas plant. The farm comprises of 1,633 ha the majority is grassland with 614 ha in low input environmental schemes. Allaster also manages 123 ha of arable land for one of Velcourt's clients.

Much of my working day is spent with clients. We work collaboratively and see each other as partners. That mutual respect allows us to tackle problems head-on and so quickly find solutions that are in the best interest of the client's business."
