Local farmers entertained at Cereals 2012

Cereals 2012 reception evening

Velcourt Farms Director for the North East Ken Shipley welcomed 35 local farmers, agronomists and managers to the Velcourt Cereals 2012 site the Monday evening before the main event.

Technical Director Keith Norman gave an insight into the company’s R&D work and a background to how the technical team and some of the innovation on display on the Velcourt stand are fed back into farm management and agronomic decisions made by the Velcourt team.

The group discussed the new marker breeding technology on display and some of the innovative approaches being trialled with new fertiliser technologies and products that Velcourt are examining to determine how more efficient use of resources can be channelled to deliver better levels of output.

Keith and local Velcourt agronomist Simon White then talked through the different SDHI products and mixes that for the first time commercially were on display side by side on the Velcourt stand and how they had performed in such a high disease year and, crucially, what lessons had been learnt for the 2013 crop strategy.

The evening ended with a reception and supper for all hosted by local Velcourt Farm manager Adrian Whitehead and his wife Sarah at the nearby Velcourt managed farm at Haverholme.

If you would like to learn more about Velcourt’s services please contact your local regional office or to discuss the new technology on display, agronomy service work or strategy please contact Velcourt agronomist Simon White.
