Velcourt’s management training scheme takes the form of an intensive one-year programme. Successful applicants spend their first 12 months on a dairy or arable enterprise on a Velcourt farm where they undertake a mixture of practical on-farm instruction, formal classroom-based tuition, as well as residential courses with a focus on personal development.
After an initial evaluation period (usually working on a Velcourt farm over the harvest), applicants often become a management trainee in the same year. Recruits into the scheme receive a competitive salary and accommodation along with all travelling and training expenses.
The programme is largely bespoke; we match training to an individual’s needs, supporting every trainee to learn everything they need to know from dairy cow nutrition and ration formulation to rotations and crop planning. As a valued member of the Velcourt team, the first year on-farm is just the beginning of the investment we make in to the bright, talented farm managers of the future.
